Description
This piece arose out of my experience living in between two cultural worlds. In a simulated Japanese grocery store, fake produce mimics a voyeuristic gaze and judges me as I struggle to translate the labels of foods I grew up eating, but cannot name. As I grapple with the identification of familiar and foreign foods, I confess my own confusion about my complex identity.
