Description
This performance interrogates the misrepresentation of Japanese women in Western media through an exaggerated, camp-inflected geisha persona. By embodying this hyper-stylized caricature shaped by Western fantasy rather than historical reality, Moon exposes the reduction of highly skilled cultural figures into objects of
aestheticized consumption.

Moon's performance parallels her own role as a Japanese American artist and cultural bearer, confronting the contemporary burden of preserving cultural authenticity while navigating a landscape shaped by external expectations. The unfolding of movement within the piece mirrors the struggle of belonging: how much of cultural identity is self-determined, and how much is dictated by external perceptions?
